Life Group Ministry

Life Groups at Anacortes 1st Assembly of God are simply groups of people that meet at host homes periodically during the month. They are typically centered on the group's shared interests, be it a topic for study, demographic similarity, or common background or experiences. They are open to church members, visitors, and guests.

The purpose of Life Groups is to foster greater (quantity) and deeper (quality) relationships within the church, to equip people for ministry, and to enable the growth of the church as a whole, of its members individually, and of its role and influence on the community.

All Life Groups have four principles in common: Love, Prayer, Equipping, and Unity. See below for the illustration and guiding Scripture verses.

Guiding Verses

 Unity

Psalm 133:1 (NKJV) – Behold, how good and how pleasant it is for brethren to dwell together in unity.

John 17:21 (NLT) – My prayer for all of them is that they will be one, just as you and I are one, Father-- that just as you are in me and I am in you, so they will be in us, and the world will believe you sent me.

 Equip

Ephesians 4:12-13 (NLT) – …to equip God's people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ, until we come to such unity in our faith and knowledge of God's Son that we will be mature and full grown in the Lord, measuring up to the full stature of Christ.

 Prayer

Isaiah 56:7b (NKJV) – For My house shall be called a house of prayer for all nations.

Ephesians 6:18 (NLT) – Pray at all times and on every occasion in the power of the Holy Spirit.  Stay alert and be persistent in your prayers for all Christians everywhere.

Love

1 Cor 13:1-3, 13 (NKJV) – Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.  And though I have the gift of prophecy, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and though I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing.  And though I bestow all my goods to feed the poor, and though I give my body to be burned, but have not love, it profits me nothing.

And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
